Bia's Tricks @ 7 1/2 weeks old

"Ring the Bell"
Bia learned to ring the bell any time she needed to go out (or at least wanted to go out). She has other ways of telling you she needs to go like barking incessantly for no reason or waiting at the door, oh so patiently. Sometimes she seems a little annoyed and will emphatically ring the bell and push it around, then still keep ringing. So much personality.

"Shake, High Five, Wave"
Bia loves high fives, but it seems she has grown out of the wave. I don't know what it is about the "wave". I think maybe she just hates goodbyes. You can maybe try, "heeeeeeeey" with her as it is something new and Bia loves challenges.
.

"Roll Over"
It took a while for Bia to learn this one. It's another one that she hesitates to do now. I really think she just got too big. I'm sure if you have a treat good enough...she'll do anything!

"Bang! Bang!"
Bia LOVED this trick. Again, another one she grew out of somehow, sadly. I really think she literally "grew out" of it...she's just gotten too big and seems very reluctant and would still do the trick (at least for her Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross)....just in sloooow motion.

UPDATE (pre-departure)

I'm pretty good at playing dead.
streeeeetch!
So, the days and weeks are now blending together. My days are down to a routine. Wake up (most of the time before Auntie and Uncle), when they finally wake up (usually Auntie Grace is the winner) we go downstairs (if we don't play a little first). Sometimes it takes me a while to figure out what's going on so I wait to go downstairs until I hear my food being poured into my bowl...oh the sweet sound of FOOD. Little do I know (I get tricked every time) that it's not yet time to eat...first we have to take a walk. I somehow always forget (it must be the food distracting me) how badly I need to PEE (and poop)! So, I ring my bell (usually upon command)...sit while Auntie Grace puts my harness on...then we walk. After our walk, it's time to EAT - my favorite part of the day! When I'm done eating, I run upstairs for playtime!! Depending on how long playtime is, Auntie or Uncle (usually Uncle) takes me out to pee (and sometimes poop) again. Then, I "go to my home". My least favorite time of the day. Time flies though as I usually just sleep through the day. Auntie Grace is usually home first so she takes me out and by the time we get back, Uncle is home...just in time to FEED me again. Yay! Then, we wind down and play and walk again when it cools down. I love going outside, but when it's too hot out...I get my exercise with playtime inside (chase, hide and seek, fetch, running up and down the stairs, tug...I love it all).

I've gotten used to spending my weekends away. I usually go to grandma and grandpa's. They spoil me so. I always come back EXHAUSTED after a weekend with them. Grandpa and I play until my paws feel like they're about to fall off! They like to dress me up in t-shirts and glasses (pictured right). We visit Tito Andy and Uncle Einar a lot, too. They just live right down the street...it's a nice walk.

I also got to spend two weekends with Uncle Mike and Auntie Ivy. I think I tire them out more than they tire me! They like to feed me organic things...it all tastes good to me. They even let me try a few grapes! They didn't know I wasn't supposed to have some, but I was just fine. I even got to hang out with their neighbor while they were doing yard work. They said they want a puppy just like me!

I wanted to finish this post before my departure, but I never got the chance. I would still like to post more, so stay tuned!

Weeks 3 thru 5

I am so sorry to have left you all without an update for so long...I've been busy. Let's see...

Week 3
This week was pretty uneventful. So, I thought I'd just fill this space to let you know a little bit about myself.
  • I have sensitive skin
  • I am impervious to pain
  • I am very stubborn when I want to be
  • I love people
  • I love other dogs even more - I've never met a dog I didn't like (but I have met plenty that don't appreciate my playful nature)
  • I know how to shake, high five, and wave...still learning to roll over
  • I like playing hide and seek
  • My farts stink...bad

Weekend #4
I spent all weekend away from Uncle John Ross and Auntie Grace. I think they said they were going to go celebrate Uncle John Ross' 29th birthday by camping at Ginnie Springs all weekend. I can't believe Uncle John Ross is 29....wow, he is OLD! Anyway, I didn't mind that they left me. Grandma and Grandpa picked me up and they let me ride on the floor in the front seat! I had fun spending Thursday and Friday with them. They feed me celery, carrots, and even bananas! Friday and Saturday night I spent with my Uncle Einar. I loved spending time with him. They let me hang out and roam the house whenever they had to go somewhere. I tried to be good. I peed on my puppy pad and then, when I couldn't find my pad, I peed in my crate. It's okay though. They don't put me in there anyway.
Me shaking paws...er hands.
Week 4
BLUR!

Weekend #5
I got to meet Uncle John Ross' nephews....would that make them my cousins?!

Weekend #3

So, my playdate with Chloe on Thursday went well...or at least I think so. I had SO much fun with her! We walked so far, I barely made it back! I was pooped (hehe, pun intended)! I especially love all the toys she gave me. I really, really liked the dental chew. Chloe's mom says she never eats it, but she sure didn't like me chewing it when we got back from our walk! I also got to meet Chloe's sister, Abbey. She wouldn't play with me...she just growled. Strange looking puppy she was. Little did I know she was actually a CAT - Auntie Grace told me later. I like playing with big dogs. They can take my punches, or as I like to call them...love taps.

Like me new harness?!
I got to spend all day Friday with grandma and grandpa! They are awesome. They give me carrots and take me on long walks. Oh! When we were walking, we ran into Auntie Eng's mom and one of my friends! We had so much fun playing in people's lawns! Auntie Grace thinks I got bit by ants somewhere though. I guess I was pretty itchy.

When Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross picked me up, I was fast asleep with grandma in the family room. I was super excited though! And, to my surprise I had a friend to sit with me in the back! Meet Auntie Maggie (pictured left). She's giving me a big hug. She loves me - she said so herself. All this excitement wore me out the whole weekend!

I guess my weekend wasn't over though. We had yet another visitor on Saturday. This one from Auntie Reshan, Uncle Holman and their Bailey! There's nothing more I love than attention from humans, except for the attention from other DOGS! This one was tiny...and fast! He was running from me and jumped on the couch...and I followed! That was the first time Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross saw me jump like that. I think my legs are getting stronger from all these stairs. I think everyone was getting a little scared that I was playing too rough though. I keep telling them that they are just love taps, but they wouldn't listen and they hid Bailey from me for a little while. I found her, eventually.

I lost some of my baby teeth this weekend. My canine tooth was pretty loose all day Sunday. It bugged me all night. I kept trying to loosen it more by chewing on all my toys. Auntie Grace thinks I swallowed it overnight. She found one of my molars in my mouth this Tuesday morning! It doesn't hurt. Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross keep saying I'm a big girl. (ww31`222222222222222222222213www <-- Me learning how to type....as you know Auntie Grace has been typing for me all this time)

OH. Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross THINK I met another milestone this weekend. NO accidents this weekend....again, so they think. I'm doing pretty good in my crate, too. Even though I almost pooped my pants after that crazy storm yesterday afternoon! There were branches everywhere on our walk...I was in heaven. Oh yeah, forgot to tell you guys - I learned how to shake hands! I'l have to show you guys next time I see you. I love you all!

Week 2

We reached a milestone today (Thursday, 6/9)! It's been a whole week and I haven't had an accident in my crate (knock on wood)! I held it for a whole EIGHT hours today! A first! I am so awesome.

A couple of days ago, Auntie Grace took me to a pet store where there was lots of treats, toys, people, and other dogs! At first, I was a little scared because it was like we were in a doctor's office and Auntie Grace just left me there! Then, I got distracted because there was so many people giving me love and attention. I love turning on my back so people can rub my belly. People just eat that shit up. Speaking of eating shit...I got a taste today! I tricked Auntie Grace, she thought I was just going for a stick under some thick bushes...then I came out with poop in my mouth! HAha. Well, I shouldn't laugh, Auntie Grace didn't find it very funny...she didn't know it was poop until she tried kicking it away. I don't know why she wouldn't let me go back for more...whatever was in there was tasty! I'm jealous. Anyway, at the doctor's I got 3 more shots and my ears cleaned! The doctor said there was some discharge, so now Auntie Grace has to clean my ears and put a drop of ointment every day, twice a day! I don't like it very much, but I tolerate it. It feels good when she rubs my ears! I also got to see my sugar momma, Auntie Erika! She wouldn't give me love because I had poop in my head. I couldn't hold it much longer at the doctor's office...there was just too much excitement all around! OH, and Auntie Grace picked me up a new leash and harness! It's such a relief not getting choked when I try and pull.

Oh, I have another milestone for you. I haven't gone one day without having an accident in the house. Uncle John Ross isn't happy about that one, but he doesn't get me. I'm still figuring my body out!

Anyway, it's time to go. Auntie Grace tells me I have a playdate with someone named Chloe. I hope she likes me. I will tell you more about it when I get back!

Weekend #2

We had another eventful weekend. Not sure if you guys care to know or not, but I am so happy about it I'm going to share with you anyway...my poop is finally back to "normal"! I'd take a picture and show you...I am that happy, but that's probably taking it just a little too far. I don't get anymore chicken and rice, cottage cheese, or canola oil in my food. They even stopped feeding me my new treats! I miss those treats, but I hate diarrhea...it hurts. Oh, what else was there? Oh! I stayed a whole day in my crate on Friday. I wasn't too happy about it, as you can see.

Saturday, they put me back in there, but I was okay with it...I had a new bed! Uncle John Ross and Auntie Grace tell me I would have had fun where they went...Riverside Arts Markets, lots of dogs to play with! They said I couldn't go yet because I hadn't had all my vaccinations yet, but when they got back I got to take a ride in Auntie Erika's car! She wouldn't let me sit in her lap like she used to. She said I was too fat! Auntie Grace said the same thing that night when she weighed me...she said I was 24.8 lbs! Anyway, we got in queue with a bunch of other dogs and their parents. I was SO EXCITED! My friend in front of us shared her water bowl with me. I was thirsty...it was pretty hot outside. Then, before I know it Auntie Grace put me on a table and then we had to go. I don't even know what hit me, but Auntie Grace and Auntie Erika tell me I got 2 shots! The doctor gave me a big hug and I guess I just got distracted. I was really thirsty that night and drank too much water so I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Auntie Grace didn't know until I started going at the foot of the bedroom stairs. She tricked me! I thought we were going downstairs to use the bathroom - I still get confused. But, I'm glad she took me out...cause I had to poop, too! It must have been those shots the doctor gave me.

Sunday, I got to go on another road trip! Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross dropped me off at Auntie Erika's and I got to spend the whole day with her! I even took a nap with her, that was nice. I was really excited when they came back though. I drank a lot when we got home and had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night AGAIN. It's tiring using the bathroom in the middle of the night. I hope I don't get used to it.

Monday, Uncle John Ross put me in the darn crate again, Auntie Grace keeps calling it my "home". I surprised Auntie Grace when she got home - I greeted her coming down the stairs! Little do they know I have the keys to my own home. I tried to go outside after I couldn't find them anywhere cause I had to use the bathroom, so I ended up just going pee in the kitchen and on Uncle John Ross' rug. I fell asleep, and got scared...I woke up to all these loud noises and things falling out of the sky! I tried to be good...I've seen how much time it takes for Uncle John Ross and Auntie Grace to clean my poop inside, so I waited until Auntie Grace got home to do that. I'll never tell them where I hide that key though.

Memorial Weekend

I am sorry for not writing sooner, but this weekend was RUFF! The days are starting to blend together now. Wake up, go out to pee, come up to eat, then go out to poo. Sleep, wake up to see what everyone is up to, sleep, wake up to get some water, sleep, go out to pee, play a little, sleep, learn some tricks/eat some treats, sleep, eat dinner, go out to pee and poop, play, sleep.

Sunday was a little different. Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross put some cottage cheese in my food and they think this made me have diarrhea. They left me thinking I was feeling better, but I made a mess in my crate! I was embarrassed, but I got a nice shower out of it! Monday was eventful, too. I got to visit Uncle John Ross' mom and dad. I got to use my playpen!! I think I got a little too excited though. I passed out right when I got home, but I guess Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross noticed I was breathing faster than normal. So, they woke me up and squirted lemon juice down my throat! I didn't know what was going on, but I could breath a lot better after that. And something happened in the middle of the night...I couldn't hold it in any longer and I went poo in Uncle John Ross' bedroom...and then went right back to sleep.

It's Wednesday and I think I'm finally feeling better, but I am STARVING! Last night Auntie Grace fed me brown rice...it was yummy, but I had another accident in the middle of the night. Today, I got to eat white rice and chicken! So yummy! I just had a little more diarrhea this morning, but only went pee the rest of the day. Auntie Grace put me in my crate when it was time for me to nap. I am feeling rested and so much better I started doing laps around the living room when Uncle John Ross came home and watched me! I think I made Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross dizzy I was going so fast! I hope I don't have another accident tonight so Uncle John Ross and Auntie Grace don't take me to the vet. I am supposed to be going with Auntie Erika on Saturday to get my vaccinations! I don't think I can take 2 visits in one week. Stay tuned!

Day 2 - My first FULL day in my foster home!

To Auntie Grace's surprise, I slept through the night. I even moved from the carpet to the makeshift bed that Uncle John Ross made for me. I must admit, it was very soft and comfortable. I woke up when Auntie Grace woke up and she took me out to use the bathroom after she did inside. I still don't understand why I have to go outside to pee. Whatev. Anyway, when we came back, Uncle John Ross fed me. Then, I needed to go to the bathroom right away. For some reason Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross wanted to wait. I was very anxious about it and I'm sure it showed because the next thing I know, Uncle John Ross was taking me out.

I was sad when Uncle John Ross had to leave. I wanted to go outside with him, but I got to hang out with Auntie Grace all day...even though she wasn't paying any attention to me. I used the bathroom in front of where she was sitting...that sure got her attention! I got to go outside again after that! When we got back, Auntie Grace put me on her lap while she was paying attention to whatever she was doing. I liked that a lot. She even wiped me with those nice, wet napkins. I'm glad she took care of whatever was making me itch so much, but then I had to go outside while she brushed my coat. I liked it when she brushed me against the coat, but not with...I get shivers just thinking about it. After my grooming, I was pooped and slept all day underneath Auntie Grace's chair, on the floor, and on the rug. I must've laid some stinky ones cause I would wake up to hear Auntie Grace's reaction every now and then. I don't understand what the big deal is - everyone does it.

Oh! I almost forgot. We had visitors today. That was exciting! I loved the attention. I showed them where I eat, nap, play, and sleep. I wish I didn't have to keep going up and down the stairs. Sometimes I have to rest on them. I wanted to show them where I use the bathroom, but Auntie Grace wouldn't let me go outside with them. That made me sad, but that was okay because I realized how tired I was and just went back to sleep. Then, I was rudely awakened in the middle of my nap by something Auntie Grace called rain. Auntie Grace wasn't doing anything about it, she just kept talking on her phone so I barked as much as she's ever heard me bark. That got her attention, but that stupid rain still didn't stop!

Anyway, I was happy when Uncle John Ross got home. He is so playful. I got to eat when he got home and my food was extra tasty. To my surprise, Auntie Grace treated me with some canola oil in my food! YUMMY! After we went for our walk so I could tae (I think that means poo in their Filipino language), we played for a little bit. I love giving kisses. Sometimes I can't control myself. I think I hurt Uncle John Ross by biting him a little on his ear. Oops! I don't think they like when I nibble or bite.

Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross left me all alone in my crate today. I was a little scared because it was raining outside, but everything turned out to be A.O.K. They came back...and with goodies! Uncle John Ross even let me have a squeaky toy! I love my new bone and treats! I think I ate a little too much because when I felt the urge to use the bathroom, I ran straight down stairs. I don't think Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross knew what was going on, but they eventually figured it out. I had to poo so bad, I went on the sidewalk the first time. Yes, I said the first time. I ended up going THREE times in one trip!

Anyway, overall today was a good day. I got used to my foster parents' home and now know where everything is. I forgot to tell you, I know how to sit pretty well and I even do it without a voice command! I think this is so they can put on my leash without me moving around so much. I also slept pretty well tonight, except for the freakin' nightmare I had. I woke up in a panic and tried to sleep in bed with Uncle John Ross and Auntie Grace, but they told me everything was okay and put me back to sleep in my bed. I hope they know how much I love them already!

My 1st Day with Auntie Grace @ Uncle John Ross'

Today I met my Auntie Grace and Uncle John Ross. They took me for a ride in a car, I think that's what they called it. It was dark and scary. I whimpered a little and got nervous and farted...I think at least 3 times. My crate was with me, but I didn't know what to do. When I finally got out, I was somewhere I hadn't been before. Auntie Grace took me for a walk and I took a big, soft poop. It was like soft serve. I can't believe Auntie Grace picked it up! At least she used something to cover her paws. When my business was done, Uncle John Ross walked with me and took me to his home. He almost carried me, but I showed him what a big girl I was and climbed up all on my own. When we FINALLY got there, I was exhausted and very thirsty. Auntie Grace fed me cold water...I think she called it ice. I liked it a lot! She made me sit for it. What a great treat! I think I made a mess because Auntie Grace was complaining about wiping my muddy paws.

Anyway, I think I drank a little too much...I almost went pee on Uncle John Ross' rug, but they stopped me right away. Then, Auntie Grace took me down the steps and then I went pee outside. I had to go up the stairs again, but I don't mind...it just takes me some time. I just get out of breath pretty easily. I like to stretch out on Uncle John Ross' floor to help me cool down.

I miss my friends. I tried to get Uncle John Ross to take me out and back to Sutton Lakes, but they think I just have to go pee. Stupid humans. They won't let me play with them like I did with the other dogs, but I was a little bigger than them.

I am tired. I had a big night. I got to go out three times tonight! I had to explore my new territory. Uncle John Ross made a bed for me, but I am comfortable right on the carpet. I tried to claim a spot on the bed, I even threw in my puppy dog face and little whimper...but they weren't having it. I miss Auntie Jackie and Uncle Chang - they let me sleep in bed with them! Oh well, maybe I'll try again tomorrow.
Some stuff that Auntie Grace picked up for me. Little did she know that I am already potty trained! Who needs training pads, ha! Uncle John Ross had to use that yellow spray already. The hypoallergenic moisturizing wipes felt really nice, especially after all that exercise I got from going up and down all those stairs! I can't wait to try those treats!!
